Colorado Is Home
Hi there,
Well, as you can see, I've got a tree trunk smack in the middle of my two front teeth and a lovely evergreen tree growing out of my right eyebrow...how cool is that? It's all good; I like the scene.
Home is where the heart is, and my heart is in Colorado. It's a long way from New York where I was born...I was going to say where I grew up, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't anywhere near grown up when I left there. Truth be told, I don't think I grew up until I reached Seattle. Sometimes I believe it's the journey and not the destination, sometimes I believe it is the destination and not the journey, and sometimes I wonder if we really grow up at all. We grow older and hopefully wiser, but in my mind I'm still a young woman. Surely the wrinkles on my face belong to someone else, someone who has made a few steep climbs toward something or someone they wanted, only to find out it wasn't right for them. But we all make those climbs; we all want to succeed, to win, to find happiness, it just takes a while to learn that losing isn't a loss at all. We come away with a greater determination, more strength, wisdom, and courage than we had before we began.
I can't complain. Life has a way of throwing us all curve balls. We deal with the hurt, the loss, and the pain--it's real and often long-lasting, but we keep the good times, the laughter, love, and joy in our hearts. My life has been blessed with wonderfully kind people who were there for me every step of my journey, and it's been a long one with numerous stops along the way. I still hold dear many of the friends and loved ones I met while living in Virginia and Indiana...they can never be replaced or forgotten. You all know who you are.
When I first began to write, I started on the wrong path under another name. I researched what I didn't know and I wrote it. I can't say that worked out very well. Fortunately, there was a story in my heart that wouldn't let me rest. Although I had other books ready to be released, this particular story pushed its way onto the page. I loved writing it because it was something I knew. The words came easy and in the process I discovered what I love to write. It's sweet and tender, it may make you cry on one page and laugh aloud on the next. It may have a bit of suspense and conflict, but it always comes to a happy ending. And that's what we all want and deserve even though we may have to hold on to our soul and run like hell to get there.
I hope you will enjoy the stories I write. I hope they will leave you feeling good, give you strength, hope, and a few hearty laughs. I welcome your emails and ideas, as well as your reviews. As an author, I value your input.
I have a newsletter, but I only send out a couple a year to let you know when I have a new release. I also started a street team of readers who want to read my work before it gets published and give me feedback. They haven't been very busy lately because this year has had a lot of ups and downs; and while I've done a lot of editing for other authors, my writing has been slow. I hope you'll join me on this journey.
As we venture into 2020, my wish for you is this...
Peace to you and all those you love,
Patty
